Our Journey with adoption begins...

Our Journey began long ago as we wanted to start our family.  After a couple of years of unsuccessful "trying" and infertility treatments, Art and I jumped to a new path with a new found hope and optimism.  Adoption was meant to be our journey to become parents.  We attended our first adoption agency seminar on June 24, 2010 and immediately fell in love with the Adoption Support Center philosophy "you will get the baby you are meant to raise".  Art was ready to sign up then and there - I wanted to do more research just to be sure!
We shared our news that we were choosing the path of adoption with our parents in early July and were very thankful for the support they gave with our announcement.  Our next step was to attend another seminar for another agency, but they didn't have a seminar scheduled until September 19th - we waited and attended the seminar - the very next day, we signed up with the Adoption  Support Center (I guess we should have followed our first instincts).  www.adoptionsupportcenter.com

The Homestudy process was a bit overwhelming, with an interview on October 21st, loads of paperwork, doctor appointments, background checks, financial records, a homestudy class with the agency and the final home visit on November 18th.  Our journey was underway, in fact the best Christmas gift of 2010 was having official approval on December 20th, we were so excited!  By January 6th our profile was "active" and being shown to expectant mothers wishing to make an adoption plan for their baby.  Our adoption motto became "Everyday holds a possibility of a Miracle" as we knew our call could come at any time and we were so excited to finally be on a path to parenthood.

Our first call that we had been chosen was March 7, 2011 - twin girls due only a week later.  I won't go into detail, because we know now that situation was just not meant to be.  March 19th we were back to waiting and continued to check in with our agency on a monthly basis.  We were constantly out to 3 - 6 expectant moms, but were never chosen.  I had started to feel a bit deflated as we received our homestudy renewal packet and had to go through all of the updates and background checks once again.  On December 23rd everything changed and suddenly hope and excitement filled our Holiday Season.
