Adoption Day!

Today is the day we've been waiting for since June.  Today, Setpember 27, is Adoption Day.  Today isn't the day we became parents.  That was on June 19, when the most amazing little dude, Spencer Daniel, was born.  We have been blessed, thanks to his incredible birthmother, Mommy D, to be Spencer's parents from the moment he was born.  In fact, he's been a part of our lives since we met his Mommy D this past January.

Today is special though.  Today is the day when we are legally aknowleged as Spencer's parents.  There is no more pending aproval, or waiting, or home visits, or anything else.  Today is Adoption Day, and  Adoption Day means forever.

God bless you Mommy D! Kelly and I owe you a debt we'll only be able to repay by being the best parents we know how to be.  We will always do our best for Spencer. We are so very much in love with our amazing son. Today is Adoption Day!

It's Play Time!

Spencer is discovering his hands and feet, and is learning how to use them for fun!  He got a really cool book from our good friend Linda that starts out with the line, "Spencer has too many toys."  This is quickly becoming true.  It is hard for our friends and family to avoid spoiling our little dude!  To be honest, it is hard for Kelly and I too.  He is pretty awesome!
Who is that in the mirror?

I really enjoys grabbing, batting, and kicking at my brightly colored toys.

I can stand up in my jumper!

My ball!

 Big beautiful eyes!

I'm also discovering my voice and can make some really cool noises as I play.

Hoepfinger's Visit from Poulsbo, WA (near Seattle)

Our Dear, Dear Friends the Hoepfingers decided to take a 3 week road trip from Seattle to visit Indiana to meet Little Spencer.  So Heather, Chloe & Blake loaded up the van and started driving - stopping at various friends and families along the way then picking up Kent in Colorado!  We feel so lucky to have had them visit. It's been 5 years since Art has seen Chloe, Blake & Kent.  Chloe and Blake loved on Spencer every chance they got.  I think they developed a good team work with Blake doing the feeding, Chloe doing the holding and burping!

We had many great meals together with Kelly & Heather cooking in the kitchen, sharing great stories and memories.  We'll miss them very much, but look forward to visiting them in Seattle someday soon.  (Kent keeps reminding us kids fly free until they're 2 years old :)

Heather, immediately upon arrival snuggled up with Spencer!

Stanley made a new best friend right off, oh he loved his Blakers!

Chloe knitted this sweet little hat for Spencer during their car ride out.
We'll always cherish it!

Blake loved to feed Spencer.  Blake autographed a baseball for Spencer before they left town,
just wait until Blake hits the big leagues, that ball will be valuable!!!

Game Night - The Settler's of Catan

Spencer enjoying his first High School Football game.  We had to take the Hoepfinger's to the
Carmel High School varsity game to show them how huge High School Football in Indiana truly is.  I think they were blown away by the size of the stadium, the tailgating and the size of that team!

A little Ice Cream reward at BRICS after walking into town on a warm afternoon.

Kent sporting the Baby Bjorn for a morning walk with Spencer.
